Our website is hosted by Netlify. Like all web hosts, Netlify automatically records standard server logs each time a page is requested. These may include:
- IP address (used only to deliver the page and for security)
- Browser type and version
- Device type (mobile, desktop)
- The page requested and the date/time of the request
- Referring website (how you found us), if provided by your browser
We do not run any third-party advertising or behavioural-tracking analytics on this website. This server-log data is retained by our host for security and operational purposes only.
How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Processing and confirming your taxi booking | Contract performance |
| Contacting you about your booking (pickup details, delays, changes) | Contract performance |
| Responding to your enquiries via phone, WhatsApp, or email | Legitimate interests |

We will not use your information for marketing or send you promotional messages unless you have explicitly given consent.
How Long We Keep Your Information
| Type of data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Booking details (name, addresses, journey) | Up to 12 months after completion |
| Email correspondence | Up to 24 months |
| Website server logs (held by our host) | Short-term, per Netlify's standard retention |

After these periods, your data is securely deleted or anonymised.
Who We Share Your Information With
Your details are only ever used to arrange your journey. We share them in just three situations:
- With your driver — so they know who to collect, where you're going, and when.
- With the technical service that runs our website (Netlify) — purely to keep the site online and secure.
- If the law requires it — for example, a police request or a council licensing check.
International Data Transfers
Our website is hosted on Netlify, which may process data on servers located outside the UK (including the EU and USA). Where such transfers occur, they are protected by appropriate safeguards including:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
- UK-US Data Bridge / EU-US Data Privacy Framework
Cookies & Local Storage
We have designed this website to respect your privacy. We do not use any cookies.
Instead, we use a single item of "session storage" — data stored only in your own browser for the duration of your visit, never sent to us or any third party. This is used strictly to:
- Remember that the homepage introduction animation has already played, so it does not replay as you move around the site during your visit
This is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab. It contains no personal information and is exempt from consent requirements under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) because it is strictly necessary for the website to function as you expect.
Third-party services
To protect your privacy, we self-host our fonts and scripts rather than loading them from external networks. We do not embed third-party tracking, advertising, social media pixels, or analytics that identify you. Our embedded map is a static image — Google Maps only loads if you actively choose to click "View on Google Maps", which opens in a new tab under Google's own privacy policy.
You can clear local and session storage at any time through your browser settings.
Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the information we hold about you
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct any inaccurate information
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data
- Right to restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
- Right to object — object to us processing your data
- Right to data portability — request your data in a portable format
- Right to withdraw consent — where consent is the legal basis, withdraw it at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at jjcabschelmsford@gmail.com or call 01245 92 22 33. We will respond within 30 days.
How We Protect Your Information
We take security seriously and use industry-standard measures to protect your data:
- All data transmitted between your device and our website is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Form submissions are stored securely on Netlify's encrypted infrastructure
- Access to your booking information is limited to authorised drivers and staff only
- We regularly review our security practices
Despite our best efforts, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs that may affect your rights, we will notify you and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) within 72 hours where legally required.
Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated via our website.
